Product Description - Measuring
One Point per Mouse Click
Each point is defined by clicking down on a point, then releasing. If you pause
with the mouse down, the Close-up Window appears directly under the cursor.
This allows you to position the cursor precisely before you release
the mouse button.
One Measurement, Multiple Dimensions
As you digitize points, eTakeoff measures the number of points, the length,
the perimeter and the area. This allows a single measurement to provide quantities
for multiple items. For example, the area could be used for the carpet quantity
while the perimeter is used for the base.
(The length doesn't include the distance from the
last point back to the first point while the perimeter does.)
Detail Scales
Detail Scales allow you to define a different scale for a section
of a drawing.
Disconnected Points and Cut-outs
A single measurement can be broken into different parts by disconnecting points.
This allows a single measurement to include several separate lengths or areas.
Areas can be negative so you can "cut-out" part of an area.
Digitizing Arcs & Circles
You can quickly digitize circular arcs by digitizing three points.
Arcs can be digitized anywhere in a measurement. For example, you can
easily digitize a parking lot island with rounded ends.
Point Editing
In point editing mode, you can move points, insert points or delete points.
Digitizing to a Desired Length
There are cases where you need to digitize a length that is known but doesn't
appear on the drawing; such as a carpet roll width or an elevation height
hidden by a roof overhang. If you pause with the mouse down, the close-up
window appears. That window displays the distance from the previous point
to the one you're digitizing. Just move the mouse until you have the desired
length, then release the mouse.
