Installation Questions

Q: Why can't I download your program? I filled out the form, clicked "Continue" and nothing happened.
A: After you press "Continue", a second page is displayed. In this page you need to click on the link "Click Here to begin Downloading".   The Download Open/Save Dialog will then be displayed. Press the "Open" button to download the installation file and start the installation.

Q: I downloaded and installed eTakeoff. How do I start it?
A: During the installation, an icon is added to your desktop. Simply double-click that icon.   If you don't see that icon, it's possible that you downloaded the installation file but didn't complete the install. Follow the instructions in the previous question and be sure to press the "Open" button in the Download Open/Save Dialog.

Q: Why do I receive an "Access Denied" error for "RViewProj.ctr"?
A: Your security level does not allow you to install eTakeoff. You should check with your System Administrator.

Vista Questions

Q: Are there any special procedures for installing eTakeoff on "Vista"?
A: You must turn off User Access Control (UAC) for the installation. That can be done as follows:

  1. From the "Start" menu (in the lower-left-hand corner of your screen), select "Settings" then "Control Panel". Make sure the Control Panel Window is in "Classic View", then double-click on the "User Accounts" icon.
  2. In the User Accounts Window, click on "Turn User Account Control on or off"
  3. In the User Account Control window, UN-CHECK the checkbox labeled "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer" then press the "OK" button.
  4. Re-start your computer to put the new UAC setting into effect.

Then download and install eTakeoff.

Note: When the installation is complete, you should turn UAC back on. Follow the same steps above but this time CHECK the checkbox labeled "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer". If you leave UAC off, you will be prompted to turn it on the next time you restart your computer.

Q: I'm currently using CINView. How do I migrate to eTakeoff?
A: CINView is a special version of eTakeoff that was integrated with the CIN planroom. It is no longer supported and is not integrated with iSqFt. You need to install eTakeoff to have integration with iSqFt. If you’re using CINView, we recommend you install eTakeoff and begin using it for new projects. You can have both CINView and eTakeoff installed on your computer simultaneously. However, projects created under CINView won’t appear in eTakeoff and vice versa. So your old projects will appear in CINView and your new projects will appear in eTakeoff. You can move individual projects from CINView to eTakeoff by exporting them from CINView then importing them in eTakeoff. Importing and exporting are simple processes that are described in the documentation.
