eTakeoff Import is designed to quickly name and organize construction drawing files for use with electronic takeoff software. Using it with the eTakeoff Plan Viewer, your entire estimating and pre-bid processes can be completed without paper plans.
During the estimating process, the estimator must frequently switch from one drawing to another. Poorly named files turn the "switch" into a search. Import allows you name each file in just a few seconds. And it can automatically add the file to an eTakeoff project.
Quickly import files from Disks, CD-ROMs or Scanners
Many drawing files are received with ambiguous or meaningless names.
Scanned plans are usually named with a common prefix followed be a sequence number.
eTakeoff Import allows you to quickly view the title block
for each file and rename it.
Split multi-page documents into individual named drawings
Multiple drawings stored in a single multi-page file cause the same problem.
The page number gives no indication of the page's content. Import
splits them into individual files with useful names.
Name files so that different versions are quickly recognized.
Revised plans are often provided in separate folders or on separate CD-ROMs.
This makes it difficult to know if you're working with the latest version.
Import allows you to append the folder or version to the name so that they
all appear together alphabeticly ("Cover Sheet", Cover Sheet - Addenda 1", etc.)
Encourage use of consistent naming standards
Import allows you to define "name mappings". These take a few use inputs
and build filenames, descriptions and subfolder names. For example, you
might want files organized in subfolders by version but with a description
that consisted of the drawing title followed by the version. That can be set
up as a name mapping so thet the user simply fills in the title and the version,
entering the version only when it changed.
